Across the top of the picture are three pairs of stars that represent
three feet of Ursa Major (the three gazelle
"leaps" of the Arabs), from right to left the third leap made of
Talitha (Iota) and Kappa UMa,
the second, made of
Tania Borealis and Australis (Lambda and Mu UMa), and the first,
made of Alula Borealis
and Australis (Nu and Xi UMa). To the right of the first leap third is
Praecipua of Leo Minor, the Smaller Lion,
the constellation stretching out to the
right in a flat equilateral triangle. Beta LMi is just to the
right of Praecipuai while 21 LMi is down and to the
right of Beta. The top of the Sickle of
Leo is at
the bottom, while the eastern end of the modern constellation Lynx
(the Lynx) is to the the far right.
