CLASSICAL STAR ATLASES

BEVIS'S URSA MINOR

Ursa Minor from John Bevis's Uranographia Britannica of 1786. Surrounding the Little Bear are Draco, Cepheus, and the head of Camelopardalis, the Giraffe. The ecliptic pole is at the top, and the celestial pole, near Polaris, at lower center. Each page of the atlas carries a dedication, this one to the University of Oxford.
