The Milky Way runs vertically down the picture through
Aquila and
Scutum.
North is to the upper left. The distinctive ring at the
center lies at the boundary between the two constellations, the
bright star Lambda Aquilae.
Serpens Cauda and Ophiuchus are at left
(the "vee" Poniatowski's Bull).
Sagittarius lies to the lower left. The bright "star" near the
lower left corner is Saturn, which was in the field when the
picture was taken. Pi Sagittarii is down and to the right of
Saturn.
