COLUMBA
Columba, the Dove, is outlined principally by a prominent triangle of stars.
The constellation can be found below Orion and to
the west of Puppis. The bright star
just above center at the left is the Zeta star of Canis Major. Mu Columbae is a "runaway star" that was
ejected from near
Orion's Trapezium Cluster 2.5 million years ago along
with Auriga's AE Aurigae as a result of a binary interaction
that also involved Na'ir al Saif (Iota Orionis).
