Three constellations of the Zodiac, Scorpius,
Libra, and eastern
Virgo run across the picture from lower left to upper right.
Smack in the middle, Libra is well defined by Zubeneschamali (just above
center) and Zubenelgenubi (down and to the right). The bright reddish
star toward lower left is Antares in Scorpius, while the bright white
star at right is Spica in Virgo. Symra (Iota Vir) is up and to
the left of Spica. Northern Lupus
(identified here by Chi Lupi)
lies below the three star head of Scorpius (which is up and to the right of
Antares), while southern Ophiuchus and
Serpens Caput lie at the upper left corner. Gamma Hydrae (in
the tail of Hydra, the Water Serpent) is
below Spica, with the end of the tail, Pi Hydrae to the left of it.
