MARE NUBIUM TO TYCHO
The Moon is in its waxing gibbous phase 9.5 days from new.
The terminator, the sunrise line, defines the left-hand edge. Note the strong shadows.
The volcanic plains of Mare Nubium lie to the top (north), the Straight Wall, a huge fault,
within it to the right. The famed crater Tycho, seen best at full Moon, 85 kilometers across
and just 100 million years old,
is down to the lower left corner. The crater Purbach is at dead center, with Arzachel up
and to the right.
