WAXING CRESCENT MOON 4.5 DAYS OLD
The Moon is in its waxing crescent phase 4.5 days from new. The terminator, the sunrise line,
defines the left-hand edge. North is to the top. The most obvious feature is Mare Crisium,
the dark basin above center. Part of Mare Foecunditatis,
most of it lost to the terminator, appears below. The crater Cleomedes lies just off the northern
edge of Crisium; Langrenus is the bright crater at center. The large, partially ruined,
feature to the south is Janssen.
