LIBRA SOUTHEAST
Libra, the Scales, lies to the upper right of the picture.
The upper part of Scorpius,
dominated by bright Antares, is seen in the
lower left hand corner. The three near-vertical
stars up and to the right of Antares make the Scorpion's head.
The two modestly bright stars of Libra
represent the Scorpion's outstretched claws,
Zubenelgenubi (the southern claw) near the right-hand edge, Zubeneschamali (the
northern claw) at the top. Zubenhakrabi represents a "claw" as well,
At one time part of Scorpius, Zubenhakrabi is also known as Gamma
Scorpii.
